- Well, as the original post said the Short Message Service (SMS) is
- available from the GSM Cellular Phone Network. GSM is IMHO not available
- in any Northamerican state - in short, it is a digital system that allows
- data/fax @ 9600 bps, SMS and of course plain audio. You'll find GSM
- operators in most European states within the European Union, along with
- parts of Australia, Hongkong and South Africa (I believe).

- but you guys will have the GSM system in a "near future" but on non-GSM
- frequencies - this will be known as PDN1800 or _something_ like that
- ("Personal Digital Network" on the 1800 MHz band). In short, the PDN
- net (or whatever it is called) will feature the GSM services including
- SMS - I recall reading something about PDN being tested in Washington DC.
